There are many reasons why becoming a flatbed driver might be the right career move for you. 

• There is the added challenge. Flatbed driving requires more expertise and drivers who are new will have to start with flatbed training. If you are a competitive person that is motivated by a challenge, this is the job for you! As you gain more experience and training, you can work your way up to driving oversize or heavy loads, even super loads. Flatbed drivers are always learning and perfecting their craft in order to meet the challenges of larger and heavier loads. They must be experts in our field, especially when it comes to load securement, tarping, and maneuvering large loads. 
• Also, flatbed drivers get paid more throughout their career. Because they are specialists in our field, they can make more money. Flatbed drivers are paid more per mile and are paid extra for tarping, and as they gain more experience and training, they can move larger and higher-paying loads.
• One of the challenges of being a truck driver, is the inactive nature of the job. Drivers spend many hours sitting behind the wheel and can be at risk for obesity and related health problems. If you become a flatbed driver, you will be required to exert a lot more physical energy. Many choose this line of work because proper securement and tarping are a great workout.
